An introduction to Family Peer Support. This training will provide an overview of what Family Peer Support is and why it is useful.
CFT 1 is a two-day experiential training (when you register, you are agreeing to attend both days) with a goal of providing an overview of Child and Family Team meetings from the family’s perspective. The training is open to anyone participating in Child and Family Teams and seeks to reinforce the idea of “one family, one plan” by addressing Child and Family Teams through the lens of multiple systems as they affect families in their everyday lives.

This training is a basic overview for any advocate who supports youth and families who need support in the educational system. This training will review the rights afforded of every student under federal law and how those rights should be upheld by school systems.
This training will share effective family leadership and advocacy skills, why family leadership and advocacy is important, and explore what family leadership and advocacy looks like within a family-driven service delivery system. Open to any family members looking to develop leadership and advocacy skills.
System of Care (SOC) in North Carolina, is not a program; it is a philosophy of how care should be delivered. The goal of this training is to explore authentic, practical ways to implement SOC cross-systems within agencies, programs, and communities. Participants will learn the aspects of the history of SOC federally and within NC. Participants will also, leave with an understanding of the importance of family and youth involvement and understand the values of NCSOC and the value of cross-system family, youth, and agency partnerships.
Reducing access to lethal means, such as firearms and medication, can determine whether a person at risk for suicide lives or dies. This free online course focuses on how to reduce access to the methods people use to kill themselves. It covers how to: (1) identify people who could benefit from lethal means counseling, (2) ask about their access to lethal methods, and (3) work with them—and their families—to reduce access. This course is primarily designed for individuals who work with people at risk for suicide, like social service professionals and health care providers.
Trauma- Informed Care is an approach in the human services field that assumes an individual is more likely than not to have a history of trauma. It shifts the focus from, “What’s wrong with you?” to “What happened to you?” In this training attendees will learn the guiding principles of trauma-informed care that serves as a framework for how systems can work to reduce the likelihood of re-traumatization. Specific applications for Family and Youth Peer Support Providers will be addressed.

This is an interactive family driven training that shares Best Practices in the Family Peer Role.
