About
I am the mom of two adult sons with Autism/IDD and a number of medical challenges. I’m a Family Partner, working with Duke Health and the NC-PAL project. I work with families of children and young adults with Autism, IDD and other disabilities in a clinical setting, providing emotional and informational/resource support. I enjoy interacting with families and sharing my expertise and lived experience with them. I understand the unique challenges that come with raising a child with a disability, and my goal is to make the family’s journey a little less stressful and to coach them on how to advocate for their family member. I facilitate a Family-to-Family Resource meeting with other Family Partners, and I also facilitate a group for young adults with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities promoting Health and Wellness and social interactions with peers. I’m a member of the Human Rights Committee for DECI (Durham Exchange Club Industries). I enjoy sharing my knowledge with families through my work or in the larger community.
